Even styled in the manner of Posh Spice circa that terrible collaboration with Dane Bowers, you would have to be “out of your mind” to suggest that Scarlett Johansson was not inherently pretty. Nevertheless, here she is at the premiere of her new film, He’s Just Not That Into You (not with hair like that he isn’t, dearie), looking disturbingly reminiscent of Posh in her Essex phase.

Everyone knows that Mrs Beckham is steadily gaining influence among the stars of Tinseltown, but we must hope that Johansson’s ironed-out hair and spidery eyelashes are not indicative of a wider Posh-inspired trend.

Who knows what Johansson’s stylist was thinking when he or she advised the poor girl to dye her hair the colour of beetroot and then stick it tightly to her face with spit? It’s just bonkers. Johansson is a Jessica Rabbit sort of a star, all soft curves and lovely, round features – so giving her a harsh, semi-dominatrix hairdo is a disaster. Ditto the eye make-up. The heavy black eyeliner and over-extended eyelashes bring an artificial edge to her extreme prettiness.

It’s an unwelcome departure from the soft, strawberry blonde starlet we know and envy. The hairdresser Luke Hersheson agrees. “She may well have had to dye her hair for a part in a film,” he says. “However, what I find bizarre is the late-Nineties flat, ironed hair which is the most unflattering look on her. Scarlett is a glamorous movie star, so why the change?”

Hersheson’s advice is to go back to being a blonde. She could start by restoring some of the lost volume: Aveda’s Pure Abundance Hair Potion, £16.50, is great for adding volume to lank hair. It will also de-shine it a bit (shiny hair is usually good, but this just looks like a mahogany sideboard), and restore a more sex-kittenish, tousled look.

In terms of make-up, Johansson is lucky in that she can carry a darker, more vampish lip shade. L’Oréal Color Riche lipstick in dark blondes, £7.99, is perfect. For eyes, Prescriptives’ new Custom Colour Palette £54.32 (0870 0342566) offers an almost infinite choice of shades, and you can mix and match to suit your requirements. A few soft, pinky golds and rosy browns and she should be back to her glamorous, flirty self.

David and Victoria Beckham’s sons appear to have it all – and their Hollywood parents make sure they don’t forget it, by schooling them in the right manners.

“They’ve all got their own headed notepaper for thank-you letters,” Posh tells London’s The Times about her boys: Brooklyn, 9, Romeo, 6, and Cruz, 3.

“People are always remarking on how well-behaved the boys are.”

Beckham, 34, attributes her appreciation for etiquette to some lessons learned from her own parents. “My mum and dad were real sticklers for good manners and so are me and David,” she said.

She also says she shoves aside newspaper speculation about her life, claiming she doesn’t “read the stuff” written about her.

David Beckham has reportedly annoyed wife Victoria Beckham by getting a new tattoo.

David recently had a new design – a Hebrew proverb reading “My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart” – inked on his upper left arm while in the UK over Christmas.

David has had more than 15 tattoos done on his arms and upper body in the last decade, starting with tributes to Victoria and their first son Brooklyn. As well as traditional depictions of angels and crosses, he has Latin inscriptions on his arms and a second Hebrew phrase – “I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine, that shepherds among the lilies” – matching Victoria’s tattoo down her spine.

But a source close to the family told the Sun: “Victoria doesn’t think David should have any more tattoos and tried to stop him having another.

“She likes his tatts but wants a bit of his skin to be left, yet David went ahead with it anyway.

“She is worried he is hooked and she doesn’t know where it will all end. He is a very healthy bloke.

“He doesn’t smoke, barely drinks and looks after his body very carefully. But his addiction is tattoos. So while his insides are as clean as a whistle, his outsides are quite the opposite.”

Victoria Beckham has shown off her Christmas present from husband David Beckham – a designer handbag worth £80,000.

The Birkin bag, one of only three made, is decorated with hundreds of diamonds including a three-carat diamond on the lock.

A source told the Sun: “It’s not as easy as everyone would think for David buying his wife a present every year, she is the woman with everything.

“But David knows the French fashion house is her favourite and he sorted the gift in Los Angeles from one of the few powerful fashion buyers who could get one.”

Victoria gave the bag its first outing in Milan, Italy on Friday while she and sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are currently visiting David – who is on temporarily loan to AC Milan.

The couple are keen not to disrupt the children’s schooling during David’s three month stint at the club but David revealed recently that Victoria will be visiting him “once or twice a week” in Italy.

Victoria Beckham has reportedly decided that she will support husband David Beckham if he is offered the chance to join AC Milan permanently.

David is currently on temporary loan to the team during LA Galaxy’s off-season but is said to be hoping for a permanent offer after being reminded how much he prefers playing the game in Europe. But after moving their family to Los Angeles in 2007 and establishing a life for them – and a career for herself – in California, Victoria was said to have been incredibly reluctant about the move.

However, a source close to the family has said that after a lot of thought and discussion, Victoria has now changed her mind and will split her life between LA and Italy.

The source told the Sunday Mirror: “It was a painful decision for Victoria and there were a lot of tears.

“She was really worried about leaving David behind in Italy. It brought back terrible memories of [their years in] Madrid and all the stories about women and nightclubs.

“But what she likes about Milan is that it is a very family-friendly team. After the matches, it is very Italian and players are out with their wives and children. It’s not like Real Madrid where they were all egotistical, super-God players with their fast cars and champagne lifestyle.

“She also realised she was fighting a losing battle – David is playing extremely well with Milan and she can see he has got his spark back. He knows if he is going to make the England World Cup 2010 team he has got to start playing top-flight football again.

“Posh decided she has to stay in Los Angeles for the children but will commute regularly to Milan.”

Victoria Beckham has gone from saying that she loves gay men and they love her to saying she thinks she actually is a gay man in disguise.

She told the Italian edition of Vanity Fair recently: “I love women. I like them as friends, as interesting people to speak with.

“But I love gay men. I always say it. Inside me there is a gay man who wants to come out!“With heterosexual men I have nothing in common – excluding my husband, brothers and father, you understand.”

Funnyman RICKY GERVAIS has asked new U.S. President BARACK OBAMA to help him get VICTORIA BECKHAM back in Britain – in exchange for PARIS HILTON. The comedian is concerned that Hilton is househunting near his London home, and has penned an open letter to Obama asking for a trade, and posted it on his website.
Gervais explains Hilton is “out and about integrating herself with the Great British public,” and adds, “Mr. President. We are not stupid. This is clearly a retaliatory strike for Posh Spice (Beckham) moving to L.A. I know it, and you know it, so let’s cut the ‘it’s a free country’ nonsense and come to some agreement.”
The funnyman adds, “This is how it would work. We call them both and tell them that we’ve found a giant ‘paparazzi nest’ in New York… The thought of that many photographers in one place will be irresistible.
“Once we get them there, while they are having their photos taken… we will swap their limos around. It’s fool proof.

“Have your people call my people. They may have to call a few times as my people are useless to be honest.”
